ADETC is now a thriving, growing organization. There is a genuine, structured community with a shared purpose and a high level of trust and commitment. The year 2005 will be critical for ADETC as we begin to put into place the goals at the heart of the distance education plan for Alaska. It’s important to note that the environment for distance education, both in terms of the capacity and infrastructure, as well as the state’s needs for distance education are continually changing. Instead of developing a rigid five year plan for developing and implementing programs, we are putting into place a process for identifying and addressing state needs, while building capacity and infrastructure so that Alaskans can participate.
- Establish the Alaska Digital Commons and Professional Development Clearinghouse.
- Establish an ongoing system for determining state needs and tangible actions to address them.
- Support efforts to improve the infrastructure for telecommunications and capacity for distance education
- Achieve sustainability through the development and implementation of a business plan.
